About This Site
A free, independent tool that calculates accurate prayer times for 4999 cities worldwide, built and maintained by a small team of developers — not affiliated with any government or religious authority.
Who is behind this site?
This site is an independent, developer-run project. Our goal is simple: give every visitor, anywhere in the world, free and accurate prayer times without ads getting in the way or requiring an account. The site is fully automated — pages are generated and refreshed by our own software using astronomical formulas, not typed in manually, which is what lets us cover {{ city_count }} cities across {{ country_count }} countries and keep every single one of them up to date every day.
How are the times calculated? Our astronomical sources
Prayer times are calculated using standard solar-position astronomical equations — the same underlying method used by most prayer-time calculation tools worldwide — based on each city's exact latitude, longitude and timezone. What differs between countries is mainly the Fajr and Isha angle convention adopted by each country's religious authority. We apply the specific method each country officially follows, shown below:
| {{ m.name }} | {{ m.desc }} |
You can always switch the calculation method manually for any city from the settings button on its page, if you prefer a method different from the one we set as default for your country.
Data update policy
Prayer times for every city are recalculated and republished automatically once a day, so you're always seeing the current day's schedule with no manual intervention on our part. City names, coordinates and population figures come from the open GeoNames database (CC-BY 4.0 license). Hijri dates and the Ramadan calendar are computed astronomically and are typically accurate to within a day of the officially announced date in most countries.
Accuracy and limitations — please read
We take accuracy seriously, and our calculations typically match official published tables to within about a minute for Fajr and Maghrib. That said, this site is a calculation tool, not a religious authority: the start of Ramadan, Eid al-Fitr and Eid al-Adha officially depends on moon-sighting announcements that vary by country, and can differ by a day from our astronomical estimate. For anything time-sensitive — fasting, Eid, or official prayer congregation times — always confirm with your local mosque or your country's religious authority.
Frequently Asked Questions
Who runs this site?
An independent team of developers, not affiliated with any government or religious authority. Religious content (hadith and duas) is sourced and referenced, and prayer times are calculated astronomically using each country's officially adopted method.
Are these prayer times official?
They're calculated using the same official astronomical method each country follows (such as Umm al-Qura in Saudi Arabia or the Egyptian Survey Authority in Egypt), closely matching official tables — but your local religious authority remains the final reference in case of any discrepancy.
How often is the data updated?
Automatically, once a day for every city, with no manual intervention.
Where does the city and population data come from?
From the open GeoNames database (CC-BY 4.0 license).
What if I notice a timing error?
It's usually due to a different locally-adopted calculation method; you can switch it manually on your city's page, or check the API page for details on the method used.
